More people, getting more places, safely. That’s the goal.
Regardless of whether you prefer to walk, bike, take the bus, or drive, public transit makes sense. More effective public transit means reduced traffic congestion and that means shorter commutes and cleaner air for everyone. Recently, we’ve made huge strides to make it easier to get around the greater Ann Arbor area. However, if the traffic on our major corridors — like Packard and Washtenaw — are any indication, we still have more work to do. I will work to:
- Prioritize public transit on high-traffic corridors — like Packard and Washtenaw.
- Build roads and sidewalks that are safe for everyone — the driver, bus rider, cyclist, and pedestrian.
- Explore new locations for commuter lots near interstate exits and along AAATA bus routes.
- Work with the federal government, the U of M, and other stakeholders to site and build a new rail station that makes fiscal sense.
- Ensure any future commuter rail lines connect seamlessly into Ann Arbor’s transit system.
